New Season of the Enlightener Prize: Submissions Open Until May 15

  • 17 Mar 2026

  •  Today, March 17, the new season of Dmitry Zimin’s prizes — Enlightener and Enlightener.Translation — has officially launched. Until May 15, applications are open for popular science books in Russian, both original works and translations, published in print or digital format.

The Prize’s selection committee accepts submissions regardless of the country of publication or the author’s place of residence. Books published anywhere in the world — including Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Israel, Kazakhstan, and other countries where Russian remains a language of reading and popular science communication for millions — are eligible to participate. The Enlightener Prize is awarded for the best popular science books originally written in Russian, while the Enlightener.Translation Prize recognizes the best popular science books translated into Russian.

To apply, applicants must complete the submission form on the Prize website by May 15. The organizing committee accepts only layout files in PDF format. Printed copies, in accordance with the regulations, must be sent only by those applicants whose books are selected for the longlist.

The longlists will be announced by June 30, and the finalists by September 30.
